Do not compare nominal credit counts
A credit in one builder is not a standardized unit of completed work in another. Overskill describes generation credits; Lovable’s current documentation describes a gradually introduced balance covering building, Cloud and app AI usage. Confirm the system shown in the workspace you are evaluating. A plan containing more nominal units can still cost more for your task. The useful comparison is the money and effort required to reach the same accepted result and keep it usable afterward.
Build a three-column worksheet
Give the worksheet columns for initial build, a normal operating month and one meaningful change. Put subscription charges, variable service usage and human review time in separate rows. For the change, use something concrete such as adding a second approver to a request workflow. Do not compare one tool’s first generated screen with another tool’s tested release. Missing measurements should stay blank or unknown, rather than being filled with a marketing example or someone else’s unusually simple project.
Include the dependency that changes the result
An app that sends email, processes payments or calls another API may involve a separate service account and bill. List those dependencies even if the builder helps connect them. State which account pays and which limit pauses work. A fixed subscription and a usage warning are not equivalent to a hard spending ceiling. If the provider’s current billing explanation conflicts with an older help page, record the conflict and verify the applicable account settings before making a financial commitment.
Choose a cost range, not a false winner
Run a small and a busier hypothetical month through the worksheet, clearly marked as scenarios. If a tiny change in usage reverses the ranking, describe the decision as sensitive to workload rather than declaring one builder cheapest. Include the cost of leaving, such as collecting source, exporting records and reconnecting services. We have not performed a paid benchmark across these builders.
