Why credits are not a count of finished apps

Interpret an allowance without converting it into an unsupported outcome guarantee.

Quick answerA credit balance describes an allowance under the provider’s rules, not a guaranteed number of useful applications.
What to know

Read what the allowance actually covers

A plan may describe credits, storage, hosting and other quantities separately. Check the current definition of each before combining them in a budget. Do not assume that unused generation credits pay for every connected service or future operating cost. Overskill’s public pricing describes credit allowances, but that alone does not establish the cost of your particular brief, its revisions or an external integration.

What to know

Compare tasks rather than prompt counts

Two prompts can ask for very different amounts of work. A short instruction may trigger a complex change, while a long brief may narrowly specify a simple screen. Count observed consumption for a defined task once an authorized evaluation is possible. Until then, keep cost per useful result unknown. Do not derive a confident app count by dividing an allowance by an invented average generation cost.

What to know

Include total correction cost

A first draft may require clarification, testing and repair. Terms may also allow charges for failed or unsatisfactory work. Separate the original generation from corrections in your notes so you can see where the evaluation budget goes. This does not mean every failed action should be retried. First check whether it completed, then decide whether another attempt is authorized and likely to answer a useful question.

What to know

Judge value against a verified outcome

At the end of a bounded pilot, record which essential tasks work and the total confirmed expense. Keep pending or unknown charges separate. A lower cost per prompt is not necessarily better value if the workflow remains unusable. The useful comparison is what you learned or completed within the agreed budget, including review effort. This framework does not predict Overskill performance or promise that credits will produce a commercially viable app.
